Refashion Runway Sewalong - Week 1: Velvet

Hello people !
Bonjour à tous !

I have been sewing my little tooshy off this week for the Fashion Show.  I am testing patterns and making a lot of muslins !

My good friend also helped me organize my sewing room and it helped tremendously !!!  I'll post some pictures later on.

Amongst all the mayhem, I took a couple of hours to whip up a velvety number because I have decided to sew along this year's Refashion Runway.

Week 1: Velvet ?  Wow, anybody still wears that ?  Well, I found two pieces in bags that friends gave me.
Semaine 1: Velour ?

The first one was a stretchy black plain jane dress and the other one, a velvet bodice with a velvety lacy skirt.

The skirt was almost 3/4 circle
La jupe était presque 3/4 de cercle

This one was a larger size
Celle-ci était plus grande

Here is a close-up of the lace, which was not stretchy

So after a couple of hours on Pinterest, I decided to make a simple yet dramatic change with the addition of lacy bell sleeves and tapered the body.  I also made the neckline more square.

Here is the result:
Voici le résultat:

I really like the look of this dress.
J'adore la coupe de cette robe.

Look at the beautiful motif of the lace.
Regardez-moi ce joli  motif de dentelle.

Very proud of my creation !
Très fière de ma création !

I like this dress so much that it is going to be my Xmas Outfit !  Thanks Beth !   No need to search this year.

Well, after this interlude, I am back to the ironing board !!!  Can't wait to show you all what I am making.

Peace !

Claudia
