Refashioning For School

Hey guys,
Bonjour à tous !

So I am a contributor to a wonderful blog called Refashion Co-op and, as the name entails, it is about clothing refashioning.  And the contributors need to post at least once a month to keep their status.  I checked my last post there and, yikes, it is from August 14th !  Time to post again !

I have been working on some school clothes.  I have told my students that I refashion clothes but I have not made any new pieces in the last little while so my students are eager to see something.

It started with a shirt I really liked.  Very boho and breezy.  I got it from Value Village and it is simple yet comfortable.

So I decided to take the pattern from the top.  It is a bit tricky because there are some details that need tweeking on the pattern but I succeeded in getting a fairly close pattern.

Now for raw material, I knew I could not try with very expensive material, albeit second hand.  So I grabbed a men's shirt that was already used for another project.

So I proceeded to cut out the pattern.  Because of the cut out sleeves, I did not have enough fabric to make my top's sleeves so I grabbed a random piece that would, more or less, fit with my first fabric.  I also am a sucker for pockets !

So here is the result:
Voici le résultat:

You see some pins on the collar because the opening was too wide and there was some "boobage exposure" !  So I made 2 small darts on each side.

Here it is on me:
La voici sur moi:

You can see I used the same fabric for pockets and sleeves to tie it in.

Here is the back:
Voici le dos:

Note to self: do not wear black bra with this top !

Again, the original and new pieces side by side for comparison:
Voici une comparaison des deux hauts:

Not too bad I say.
Pas trop mal je dois dire.

So I am safe for another month at Refashion Co-op ! Hopefully it won't take that long !

Peace

Claudia
