A New Travel Pouch

Hey there folks !!!
Bonjour à tous !!!

Just caught a lull in my schoolwork and thought I'd whip up something to keep my sewing skills up to date.

I had a really old, stained and yucky travel pouch but I really loved the pattern.  So of course, I had to make another one.  So here is the yucky pouch:

See the yellowing front ?  Yuck !
Voyez le jaunissement sur le devant ?  Yuck !

What I really like are the different pockets in the lining.

I deconstructed it and traced the pattern on new and cuter fabric.  I had an old shower curtain and a fat quarter I got from Creativ Festival.  I recuped the zipper and some batting I already had in my stash.  So I had to quilt the body and sides with batting and vinyl.  Oh what fun...  I also made some bias tape with my fancy dandy bias maker that I got at Creativ Festival also.  My friend Johanne also showed me a really cool way to cut bias strips, easier than I have ever seen anywhere !  So I ended up with close to 5 meters of bias tape !!!

After much fiddling around and trying to figure out the way to make the pouch, I finally did it !  It is a bit wonky and I had to resew the bias (I had started with the cheater way...) but I love it anyways !

I love the bright fish fabric.  I just had enough to make it.  I tried adding a pocket on the outside but, as you can see, I did not place it correctly... Oh well...
Eh ben...

So, I should add something else soon.
Je devrais publier quelque chose d'autre bientôt.

Peace !

Claudia

  2. Aren't bags fun to make? I made one for my husband to take along to Mexico tomorrow as a gift for someone that made a beautiful furniture scarf using just cloth, needle, and thread. Will definately have to post both. Wow maybe I will work on more bags today!!!
